A New Obsession?

I took a book making class given by my art teacher Phyllis.

What fun! I got to make the book you see here, a little more than 4x6, with 36 pages inside. I'm not sure what I'll use it for, but I love it.

I forget what we called the stitching. The pages were grouped into "signatures" and sewn into the binding of the cover with a running stitch. We used waxed thread with a tapestry needle, after we poked holes with a pottery point. Phyllis said a thumbtack or pushpin would work. There was a Japanese style that used what looked like a blanket stitch on two covers without an attached spine. Then there was a pamphlet style, which was another flat little book.

Oooh ooh, I just thought of a pamphlet with the contents of my address book. Wouldn't that be pretty?

I've got all sorts of ideas for future little books. Watercolor covers would be cool. I bought some scrap book paper to use too. I think I'm off to cut paper to size. But what about my shawl????

Very cool. You could bind pages of your blog.
