Deep Blue Waves is Finished

Deep Blue is finished and dry from blocking. Thanks to Matt for photographing me. I am very pleased with the outcome. Does that mean I wouldn't change a thing? No, I used a larger percentage for the upper arm, thinking that EZ meant the arm-shoulder seam area. Nope, she meant the place where the arm joins the body and it is a smaller number. So my sleeves are a little wide, but not too bad. I ended up doing a saddle shoulder, and I'm not sure I like the back of the neck part. It blocked out nicely, so I'll have to wear it awhile and see.

So Far So Good

I'm finishing the neck on Deep Blue. I tried a few different cast off techniques, but went back to the EZ sewn bind off. I think this one will be stretchy enough and yet will lay flat. The others were bunching up. The fit seems to be good. Since I didn't block it, or weave the underarms, it's a little poofy around the shoulder saddles. The row gauge is off a bit too. I need to add at least two more inches before I do the ribbing. Luckily, I did a sort of provisional cast on, and I should have plenty of yarn. Supposedly the temperatures are warming up, but if I can finish Deep Blue this week, I might even get to wear it this season!

Tink, Tink

I had to tink back several rows of Deep Blue. I joined the sleeves to the body and tried to reverse the directions of Barbara Walker's top down set in sleeve. I graphed it out and started, but got cold feet. Then I re-read EZ's Brook's sweater, a saddle shoulder sweater, and thought that made more sense. So I tinked back.

Perfect Storm

Well, not a storm per se, but the weather patterns have been perfect for staying home and knitting. We got 13 inches of snow on Thursday and Friday, and now it's below zero.

And I've got a lot to show for it. I finished my felted clogs and my ipod cozy. My deep blue waves sweater is coming along and there are only a couple of inches to go on my northern lights socks. I need to get some photos taken...Plus I'm itching to start something. But what?
